The EduBlog Awards provide education bloggers the opportunity to connect and be recognised for their contributions.
Personally and professionally, my adventures in blogging this year have allowed me to reflect and grow. It has allowed me to investigate things that I didn’t even know existed in the education world to benefit and extend my students. I have been introduced to new ICT tools, writing strategies, advice on blogging for students, flipped classrooms and learn more about alternative education. I have also had the opportunity to explore and connect with other educators who blog, and they are the ones that this post is written to honour. I would strongly encourage you to visit and connect with these educators as well. If you like what you see on their blogs connect with them by commenting, adding their site to your RSS feed or Google Reader, or write a post about something you like on their blog!Image may be NSFW.

- Best Individual Blog Award- Teacher Tom is my nomination for this category. While his world and mine are worlds apart (I’m an Australian high school teacher and he is a creative, innovative American pre-school teacher) I am always eager to read another one of his regular posts. The work he does with his students, his reflections on teaching and learning, the unique and innovative perspectives… have all inspired me and led me to reflect on my own teaching, views on learning and pedagogy. http://teachertomsblog.blogspot.com.au/
- Best Group Blog Award-Melanie and Melanie’s focus on literacy was what attracted me to their blog. Regular updates and interesting reads is why they are my nomination for this category http://tworeflectiveteachers.blogspot.com.au/ (Although after following a link from Two Reflective Teachers to the Two Writing Teachers blog I think I have found another blog worthly of this category for my nominations next year http://twowritingteachers.wordpress.com/)
- Best New Blog Award- Lauren is a second year teacher and new to blogging this year. She investigates creating positive change in remote indigenous schools. Her posts, though few so far, are interesting and inspirational. http://positivefuturesyouth.blogspot.com.au/ (Another category where there were many options! So hard to choose!)
- Best Class Blog Award- This amazing class blog is also from a local primary school that has embraced blogging for all it’s classes. Since I could only nominate one I will nominate http://gwpsprep.global2.vic.edu.au/ but encourage any readers to check out the other GWPS blogs as well!
- Best ed tech / resource sharing blog- Applications, web 2.0, software and general education topics are all covered on this informative blog http://learningau.wordpress.com/
- Best Teacher Blog Award- Kelli McGraw is a fellow high school English teacher turned lecturer with lots of interesting perspectives to share on education.
- Individual Tweeter- https://twitter.com/kathleen_morris
- Best Open PD- http://guidetoinnovation.ning.com/ Regular free online web conferences for educators. Having attended a few myself this is an excellent resource for professional learning!
- Social Network- https://twitter.com/TeachGenNow
- Lifetime Achievement Award- Darcy Moore is my nomination for this award for his dedication to blogging (since 2008) and education. His posts are informative and though provoking on a variety of topics. http://darcymoore.net/ (If I were able to nominate more than one What Ed Said would also definitely be on my list!! However, given that I can not… I would just encourage you to visit them anyway… and maybe write a nomination post of your own!)
This was a particularly hard list to create given that so many other bloggers also contribute so much! I enjoy reading all the educators who regularly end up in my Google Reader and selecting only one for each area was really tricky. If you aren’t on the list it isn’t because I don’t appreciate what you contribute to the blogging world!
